On the 24th of February IES’s leading researcher Dr.Dainis Jakovels will speak at the conference in Dubrovnik, Croatia, which is organised as a part of the OPTIMISE action and gathers together European researchers to discuss the innovative tools and research methods for land cover monitoring.
D.Jakovels is representing Latvia in COST programme’s action “Innovative optical tools for proximal sensing of ecophysiological processes (OPTIMISE)” Nr.ES1309 since 2015. The action supports important European and international initiatives for optical sensing of ecosystems. Such optical observations provide data at the high spectral, temporal and spatial resolutions necessary to more fully comprehend the links between light use, plant physiology and ecosystem functioning and provide key datasets for satellite remote sensing missions such as Sentinel and the proposed FLEX candidate missions.
The international science support programme COST is the longest-running European framework supporting trans-national cooperation among researchers, engineers and scholars across Europe. Latvia became a member of the COST programme in 1999, but it has been participating the COST activities since 1997.
